Alexandria Division of Police and the Johnstown Police Department qualified on firearms together at the Pataskala Police Department's Firing Range. Within the next year, Alexandria Officers will be issued Sig Sauer handguns and rifles and everyone got a chance to qualify on these new weapons.

Alexandria Division of Police hired Heath Steele and Jeff Finley as Part-Time police officers. Officer Steele and Officer Finley have been working for the Village as Reserve officer and received no pay with that position. Welcome them as we advance our department forward.

Alexandria Division of Police said goodbye to Sergeant Josh Weaver. Sgt. Weaver previously retired from the Ohio State Highway Patrol and decided it was time to retire from law enforcement for good. We are sad to see him go...Thank you for your time with the Alexandria Police.

Officer Hect's past experience includes working as a full time Chief of Police with the Salina, Ohio Police Department, Chief of Police with the Hartford, Ohio Police Department and Chief of Police for Denison University in Granville, Ohio. Officer Hect has been hired as a Deputy Chief with the Alexandria Police Depart

Alexandria Division of Police hired Heath Steele as a new police officer. Officer Steele's past experience includes working as a full time police officer with the Buckeye Lake Police Department. Officer Steele has an interest in working with weights and scales for commercial vehicles with the Alexandria Police Department. Officer Steele has been hired as a Patrolman with the Alexandria Police Department.

Alexandria Division of Police hired Jeff Finley as a new police officer. Officer Finley's past experience includes working as a Major with the Crooksville Police Department. Officer Weaver spent 24 years there and worked as the commanding officer of their Auxiliary Unit. Officer Finley has been hired as a Patrolman with the Alexandria Police Department.

Officer Weaver's past experience includes working as a Sergeant with the Ohio State Highway Patrol.  Officer Weaver spent 25 years there and worked as a motorcycle officer. Officer Weaver has been hired as a Sergeant with the Alexandria Police Department.

Newly elected Alexandria Mayor Jim Jasper's first task was to appoint a new Chief of Police after a 5 year absence of an Police Department. Ohio State law requires each village to have a Chief of Police. Dan Bunting, the former Marshal from the Alexandria Marshal's Office was reappointed, as Chief of Police and tasked with building a new police department for the residents of Alexandria. Most residents in the area know Dan Bunting from his time with the Licking County Sheriff's Office. So if you see Dan...Welcome him as the new Chief of Police.
