Dan Bunting was hired as the Village Marshal / Chief of Police for the Village of Alexandria in January of 2018, by newly elected Mayor Jim Jasper. Dan served Alexandria as a councilman from 2012 thru 2017. Previous to 2012, Dan held the position of the Alexandria Village Marshal, which is equivalent to the Chief of Police.
 
In 2006, Dan left the Licking County Sheriff's Office, where in his time there, he served under both Sheriff Gerry Billy and Sheriff Randy Thorp. After leaving, he took a position in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado as Deputy Sheriff with the Eagle County Sheriff's Department. It wasn't long before Dan figured out that he couldn't afford the high cost of living in the Vail Valley and moved back to Ohio, and landed in the community of Alexandria.
 
Dan is a 1992 graduate of the Central Ohio Police Officer's Training Academy in Reynoldsburg, Ohio and his first police commission was in Union County, Ohio. 

Fast Fact about our Chief of Police...He is a professional powerboat racer and has toured the county for over 10 years campaigning his race boats for national brand sponsors such as: Monster Energy, Flex Seal-Rubber Sealant, E3 Spark Plugs and Gulf Racing Fuels.
